Acne and Green Tea

Acne is a frustrating problem battled by teenagers and some adults as well. There are a number of products on the market but many of these products have a range of side effects. Acutane, for example, has such a high risk of birth defects in children born to women taking the drug that women are required to be on two forms of birth control while using it (example: birth control pills and a barrier method). Benzoyl peroxide can dry skin out and as an added bonus can bleach clothing if used anywhere on the body except the face.

People have begun seeking homeopathic remedies and are turning to green tea because it is proven to be beneficial in preventing skin problems. Even better, green tea can be consumed as a drink or in pill form. It can also be applied externally as a cream.

Before it was discovered that green tea could help with your skin treatment, people have been applying warm teabags to blemishes. Doing this draws toxins from the problem area, which helps the skin heal faster. Green tea works to reduce inflammation and hormonal activity and therefore, green tea helps improve your skin.

Green tea has multiple benefits when used to treat your skin. Unlike some other treatments such as benzoyl peroxide, it never dries out skin. However, green tea has similar results as benzoyl peroxide in people who suffer from moderate acne. Don’t worry – you don’t have to drench your face in green tea. Just apply a green tea cream. Green tea cream has anti-bacterial and antioxidant properties, which are great for your skin. Green tea creams also include Vitamin E.
